Quito, Nov 6 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, engaged in critical discussions on Thursday with Ecuadorian Ministers, Vice Ministers, and officials to enhance bilateral cooperation between India and the South American nation across pivotal sectors such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, training, education, culture, tourism, trade, textiles, health, and pharmaceuticals.

The MoS reiterated India’s dedication to collaborating with Ecuador under the framework of South-South cooperation.

On X, Margherita noted: "Thrilled to engage with Ministers, Vice Ministers, and officials from various Ecuadorian Ministries. Our discussions were fruitful in enhancing cooperation in agriculture, AI & cybersecurity, training, education, culture, tourism, trade, textiles, health & pharmaceuticals. India is firmly committed to partnering with Ecuador in the spirit of South-South cooperation".

Margherita also had a meeting with Ecuador’s Minister of Foreign and Human Mobility Affairs, Gabriela Sommerfeld, during his official visit to the Latin American nation.

Both sides examined avenues to strengthen cooperation in political, trade, pharmaceuticals, training, and capacity building, along with other areas of mutual interest. During their meeting, the two leaders formalized an agreement through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the diplomatic training institutions of India and Ecuador.

We discussed strategies to fortify bilateral relations, including in political, trade, pharmaceuticals, training, capacity building, and other areas of mutual priorities. On Wednesday, the MoS and Foreign Minister Sommerfeld jointly inaugurated the resident Embassy of India in Ecuador’s capital, Quito, highlighting India’s commitment to enhancing its partnership with Ecuador.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to jointly inaugurate the resident Embassy of India in Quito with Gabriela Sommerfeld, Foreign Minister of Ecuador. This marks a significant step in deepening our partnership and begins a new chapter in our bilateral relations,” Margherita expressed on X.
