Prime Minister Modi to Attend AI Summit in France on February 10-11

Paris, Jan 11 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to take part in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Summit taking place in France from February 10 to 11, according to a statement made by French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday.

During his address at the 30th Conference of Ambassadors, President Macron remarked, "France will be hosting the AI Summit on February 10-11. This event, termed a summit for action, will facilitate an international dialogue on AI. Prime Minister Modi will be present as we aim to engage in discussions with all key players regarding AI developments."

The French President underscored the significance of AI as a global discourse and noted the participation of nations like the US, China, and India, along with Gulf countries that have substantial roles in the advancement and regulation of AI technologies.

"The US, China, and major emerging nations such as India hold critical responsibilities, as do the Gulf states," Macron stated.

He also pointed out that the summit would concentrate on innovation, talent, and establishing France and Europe at the forefront of the global AI landscape.

"In addition to fostering this dialogue, we aim to promote public interest through foundational initiatives... The summit’s essence will revolve around innovation and attracting talent to ensure France and Europe lead in the AI domain," he elaborated.

Previously, the French Presidency confirmed India's invitation to the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in December, highlighting India as a "very important country".

In a press briefing regarding the summit, the French Presidency revealed that 90 countries, including India, have been invited to join.

"We have engaged with India closely in preparation for the summit. Issues of misinformation and the misuse of AI will be central themes of discussion," the French Presidency noted.

"India plays a significant role, especially concerning its potential to positively influence people's lives. We anticipate India's valuable contributions to various topics at the summit," they added.

The summit is scheduled to occur at the Grand Palais in Paris, gathering Heads of State, leaders from international organizations, CEOs of both large and small enterprises, academic representatives, NGOs, artists, and civil society members.

The event will revolve around five primary themes: public interest in AI, the future of work, innovation and culture, trust in AI, and global AI governance.

The French Presidency further emphasized the necessity of tackling challenges related to disinformation and the misuse of AI, which are pivotal topics for the summit's agenda.

On February 10, various stakeholders, including heads of state and government officials, will engage in multiple sessions.

Macron will host a formal dinner for heads of state and other VIPs that evening.

On February 11, the summit will present a dedicated session exclusively for leaders of state.
