Singapore, March 24 (NationPress) Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday highlighted India's significant maritime strategies that are providing new energy to global shipping while speaking at the high-level dialogue on 'Navigating Global Maritime Trends in 2025 and Beyond' during Singapore Maritime Week.

These initiatives, driven by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to Sonowal, are enhancing connectivity, fortifying supply chains, and boosting the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB).

"We are also establishing the groundwork for a strong shipbuilding sector while focusing on sustainability, which includes the creation of Green Shipping Corridors. Guided by the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, these measures are crafting a maritime future that is sustainable, secure, efficient, and inclusive," stated Sonowal.

The minister is on a three-day visit to Singapore at the invitation of the Singapore government as India aims to enhance maritime collaboration.

Sonowal is also engaging in discussions with counterparts from various participating nations during Singapore Maritime Week.

"I am pleased to attend the inauguration of Singapore Maritime Week 2025. It was a privilege to hear the inaugural address by former Prime Minister and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who discussed the strengthening India-Singapore maritime relations. It is an honor to represent India at this annual gathering of the international maritime community as we aim to foster global collaborations and showcase India's potential as a future-ready maritime investment hub," Sonowal shared on X.

During this key event, the minister also engaged in fruitful discussions with industry leaders regarding India's maritime capabilities.

"India is poised to offer exceptional opportunities, welcoming the global maritime community to invest and explore its vast prospects," he added.

The Union Minister also met with senior officials from the Singapore government, including Lee Hsien Loong, Murali Pillai, and Dr. Amy Khor, among others.

"Had a productive bilateral discussion with France's Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot during Singapore Maritime Week. We discussed the growing maritime partnership between India and France and our shared role in the global shipping sector," Sonowal posted on X on Monday.

He is also set to meet with Brigit Gijsbers from the Netherlands in a bilateral meeting aimed at further strengthening maritime ties between the two nations.

Earlier today, the Union Minister interacted with the Indian community. On Sunday, he visited the INA Memorial in Singapore with the High Commissioner of India to Singapore.
