Washington, April 8 (NationPress) Following the announcement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump declared it a "significant milestone for global peace" on Wednesday. Trump noted that Iran had reached a point of exhaustion and could now commence its reconstruction efforts.

In a message shared on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that the U.S. would assist in managing the traffic congestion in the Strait of Hormuz and mentioned that American forces would remain in the area to ensure the situation progresses smoothly.

Trump stated, "A significant milestone for global peace! Iran is eager for this to happen; they’ve had enough! So has the rest of the world! The United States will aid in managing traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. Expect a lot of positive developments! Substantial financial opportunities will arise. Iran can initiate the reconstruction phase. We’ll be providing all necessary supplies and just 'hanging out' to ensure everything proceeds well. I am optimistic about this. Just like we are witnessing in the U.S., this could usher in a Golden Age for the Middle East!"

Previously, Trump took a step back from escalating military actions against Iran, announcing a conditional two-week halt to planned attacks linked to reopening the critical shipping lane, which brought relief to people worldwide.

This announcement came just 90 minutes before Trump's self-imposed 8 p.m. EST deadline for Iran to finalize an agreement, following behind-the-scenes diplomatic engagements.

In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump indicated he would "suspend" military escalations for two weeks if Iran agrees to open the vital shipping route.

He mentioned that discussions with Pakistan resulted in what he termed a "bilateral ceasefire".

Trump conveyed, "The rationale behind this move is that we have already accomplished all Military objectives and are well on our way to a conclusive agreement for long-term peace with Iran and stability in the Middle East."

Additionally, he revealed that the United States had received a "10-point proposal from Iran" that serves as a viable foundation for negotiations.

Trump affirmed that most contentious issues had been resolved, and the two-week ceasefire would facilitate the finalization of the agreement.

The ceasefire is contingent upon Iran's commitment to the "complete, immediate, and safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz."

Iran indicated tentative compliance. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi stated that Tehran would cease operations if attacks are halted.

He remarked, "If assaults against Iran cease, our formidable Armed Forces will conclude their defensive actions."

For the two-week duration, safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz will be coordinated with Iran’s Armed Forces, considering technical limitations.

A White House official confirmed that Israel also endorsed the two-week pause, although specifics are still unclear.

The pause followed a sharp escalation earlier that day, where Trump warned that "a whole civilization could perish tonight, never to be revived" if Iran failed to reach an agreement.

The Strait of Hormuz remains pivotal to the ongoing crisis, with its closure disrupting oil supplies and driving up prices.
