Trump Names Former Aide Peter Navarro as Trade Advisor

Washington, Dec 5 (NationPress) US President-elect Donald Trump has appointed his former aide Peter Navarro to take on the role of senior counselor for trade and manufacturing in his forthcoming administration.
Navarro, who is a Harvard-educated economist, previously held a position in Trump's first administration, overseeing the newly established National Trade Council and later the White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy, according to reports from Xinhua news agency.
Trump remarked, "During my First Term, few were more effective or tenacious than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules, Buy American, Hire American," on Wednesday via his social media platform, Truth Social.
A devoted supporter of the President-elect, Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of not complying with a subpoena from the Congressional committee that was probing the January 6, 2021, US Capitol attack.
Shortly after his release in July, he delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention.
In his announcement, Trump stated that Navarro was "treated horribly by the Deep State, or whatever else you would like to call it".
On the same day, Trump also declared that Adam Boehler, the current CEO of the healthcare investment firm Rubicon Founders, will act as his special envoy for hostage affairs.
Additionally, Trump nominated Jared Isaacman, CEO of Shift4 and leader of two private spaceflights, as the next administrator of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and Daniel P. Driscoll, a US Army veteran and venture capitalist, to take on the role of Secretary of the Army. Both of these nominations will require Senate approval.
