Washington, June 25 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump vehemently dismissed a recent intelligence report that questioned the administration's assertion that US airstrikes had “completely and totally destroyed” Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities.
The report, originating from the US Defence Intelligence Agency and reported by CNN and the New York Times, indicated that the airstrikes merely postponed Iran's nuclear program for a few months, with much of the enriched uranium stockpile relocated prior to the strikes.
“Fake news CNN, along with the failing New York Times, have colluded to tarnish what is arguably one of the most successful military operations in history. The nuclear sites in Iran are entirely obliterated! Both the Times and CNN are facing backlash from the public,” Trump stated on Truth Social on Wednesday, attacking both news outlets.
During a Fox News interview, Steve Witkoff, the US President’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, labeled the report's leak as “treasonous” and emphasized the need for an investigation.
“It goes without saying that leaking such information — regardless of its content or origin — is outrageous. It's treasonous. It should be investigated, and those responsible should face consequences. Such leaks could jeopardize lives in the future. This is simply unacceptable,” Witkoff asserted.
“We deployed 12 bunker buster bombs on Fordow. There is no doubt that it penetrated the facility... and it was OBLITERATED. Therefore, any reporting suggesting we did not achieve our goal is absolutely absurd!” he continued.
Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told CNN that the report was ‘utterly incorrect’.
“This supposed assessment is flat-out wrong and was classified as ‘top secret’ but was still leaked to CNN by an anonymous, low-ranking individual within the intelligence community. This leak is a blatant attempt to undermine President Trump and the courageous pilots who flawlessly executed the mission to eradicate Iran’s nuclear program. Everyone understands what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000-pound bombs directly on target: total obliteration,” she asserted.
