Washington, Feb 26 (NationPress) President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the proposed ‘Gold Card’ will provide a pathway to citizenship for purchasers, with a tentative price set at $5 million, expected to be available for sale in two weeks.

The ‘Gold Card’ will allow American companies to acquire these cards for top talents they wish to recruit from U.S. universities. It specifically mentions candidates from India, China, and Japan, and aims to attract wealthy foreigners who may establish businesses that generate jobs.

“It’s like a Green Card Plus, and it’s a pathway to citizenship,” the president remarked during the initial cabinet meeting. “We’re naming it the Gold Card, and I believe it will be highly valued. I expect it to be successful, and we aim to start selling it in about two weeks.”

The Green Card grants permanent residency and also provides a route to citizenship. Currently, the U.S. has a visa program called the EB-5, which allows foreigners to acquire a Green Card for an investment of roughly $1 million. However, the Trump administration has criticized it for being poorly managed.

“I receive inquiries from companies eager to hire the top student from a school,” the president stated during the cabinet meeting broadcasted live.

“Individuals come from India, China, Japan, and various other countries. They attend prestigious institutions like Harvard, Wharton School of Finance, and Yale, graduating at the top of their classes. They receive job offers, but these are often withdrawn due to uncertainty about their ability to remain in the country. I want to ensure they can stay. Companies can purchase a Gold Card for recruitment purposes. We hope to start selling it in about two weeks,” he added.

President Trump envisions the ‘Gold Card’ as a means to generate funds to reduce the national debt.
