Two Iraqi Security Personnel Lose Lives in Confrontation with IS Militants

Baghdad, Dec 9 (NationPress) Two Iraqi security personnel were tragically killed on Monday during an operation targeting Islamic State (IS) militants in Anbar province, as reported by the Iraqi National Security Service (INSS).

Acting on intelligence reports and surveillance, members of an INSS unit engaged in conflict with the IS militants after conducting a raid on a residence in the province, according to the statement.

This confrontation led to the deaths of two INSS officers and also resulted in the elimination of two IS militants, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.

While the security climate in Iraq has seen improvements since the downfall of IS in 2017, remnants of the group have infiltrated urban areas, deserts, and challenging terrains, executing frequent guerrilla assaults on both security forces and civilians.
