Jaipur, April 2 (NationPress) A total of ten juveniles managed to escape from a juvenile correction facility in Dholpur, Rajasthan, by breaking through the iron mesh on the roof. The entire event was recorded on CCTV, which led to an immediate response from the police.
In the wake of the escape, police units initiated a search and blockade operation to locate the fleeing juveniles.
The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police Sumit Meharada arrived at the scene and dispatched teams to hunt for the escapees.
The correction facility located on Bari Road had more than a dozen juveniles held for various criminal offenses.
Between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m., ten juveniles broke through the iron mesh on the roof and escaped one by one.
According to Dholpur Circle CO Munesh Meena, once the police were notified about the escape, a team led by Dholpur SP commenced a search operation.
This is not the first occurrence of an escape at the Dholpur Juvenile Correction Home.
In January, five juveniles escaped but were apprehended within 24 hours. The Bari Kotwali police successfully detained these five escapees.
They were returned to the facility after being interrogated.
Officials mentioned at that time that those who had escaped were recently apprehended by police from various districts and placed in the correction home.
The escape was reported by the guard in the morning, triggering a police alert.
Immediately after the control room received the report, blockades were established across all police station areas.
This incident has caused a stir within the police and administration, leading to a large-scale search effort.
Labeling the incident as unfortunate, officials confirmed that actions will be taken against the security guard on duty.
