Did 6,900 Companies Shut Down or Relocate from Bengal Since TMC Took Charge? Amit Shah Speaks Out
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Jan 31 (NationPress) - On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that approximately 6,900 companies operating in West Bengal have either ceased operations or relocated to other states from 2011, the year the Trinamool Congress (TMC) assumed power, until 2025.
“Between 2011 and 2025, a total of 6,900 companies in West Bengal either shut down or moved their management to other states. Among these, 110 companies were publicly traded. West Bengal once boasted impressive figures in terms of Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) and per capita income, both of which have notably decreased during the TMC's rule,” remarked Shah during a mass rally and workers’ conference of the BJP in Siliguri, located in the Darjeeling district of northern Bengal.
This rally marked the second occasion Shah addressed the public in West Bengal that day, the first being in Barrackpore, situated in the North 24 Parganas district.
Shah also presented a comparative analysis regarding the central funds provided to West Bengal during the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) regime from 2014 onward versus the earlier UPA regime.
“During the prior UPA government from 2004 to 2014, central fund allocations for West Bengal totaled only Rs 2,00,000 crore. However, since the NDA came into power in 2014, this amount surged to Rs 10 lakh crore. So, where has this money gone? It has all disappeared into the corruption syndicates of the ruling TMC. Should the BJP gain power in West Bengal, the heads of these syndicates will face justice,” Shah stated.
He further accused the Mamata Banerjee-led government of disregarding development in North Bengal. “The current administration has merely seen North Bengal as a cash cow. If the BJP assumes power, budget allocations for North Bengal will significantly increase,” he added.
The Union Home Minister reiterated the BJP’s firm stance on illegal infiltration. “If the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, not only will illegal infiltration cease, but we will also deport existing illegal immigrants back to their home countries,” he promised.
“This is precisely why Mamata Banerjee and the TMC are so apprehensive about the special intensive regime, as it will serve as a crucial tool for identifying illegal infiltrators,” concluded the Union Home Minister.
