Agartala, Feb 14 (NationPress) A band of robbers infiltrated the CBI camp office in this city, absconding with not just files and other valuables but also almirahs, chairs, electrical appliances, doors, and even windows, an official disclosed on Thursday.

A police spokesperson indicated that after the CBI filed a complaint, authorities apprehended six individuals and managed to recover a majority of the stolen goods.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of the New Capital Complex (NCC) Subrata Barman noted that the CBI’s camp office, situated in the well-guarded Shyamali Bazar complex, had been non-operational for over five months.

During this time, the burglars took advantage of the situation and invaded the CBI office, stealing furniture and related items.

The theft was uncovered when CBI officials visited the site on February 11, only to find themselves confronted by stark walls, with a significant amount of furniture and other belongings missing, according to the official.

Following a complaint lodged by CBI inspector Anurag, an inquiry was initiated under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Jainal Hussain, which led to the apprehension of Biplab Debbarma and Raju Bhowmik.

Interrogating them unveiled the full scale of the crime, prompting four additional arrests, stated the DDPO.

The police successfully retrieved eight steel almirahs, seven wooden doors, four windows, a geyser, and four chairs, among other items. The recovery operation was conducted in the presence of an executive magistrate.

All six suspects hail from the neighboring Shyamali Bazar and Khejur Bagan areas on the outskirts of the capital. They are expected to be presented before the court.

The investigation continues as police officials assess whether any additional items or unusual motives were behind the theft.

It was noted that some of the detainees are also battling drug addiction.
