Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 15 (NationPress) Vice President CP Radhakrishnan stated on Wednesday that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is empowering governments to enhance their service delivery to citizens and has become a vital tool in realizing a Viksit Bharat, which is inclusive, efficient, and prepared for the future.
During the 5th Dr. Rajendra Prasad Annual Memorial Lecture themed “AI for Good Governance” at the 72nd Founders’ Day celebration of the Indian Institute of Public Administration, Radhakrishnan referred to AI as providing governments with “a new superpower.”
The Vice President emphasized that India is leading the charge in utilizing AI to reinforce the vision of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
He explained that AI has made governance quicker, smarter, and more transparent, enabling the precise and dignified delivery of services to every citizen, even the last person in line, thereby enhancing the goals of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.
According to him, AI enables targeted welfare delivery and minimizes leakages, effectively bridging the gap between policy and citizens. It fosters data-driven decision-making, enhances public service delivery, and builds trust between the populace and governmental institutions.
Radhakrishnan also noted that AI-driven platforms are breaking down language barriers in a multilingual nation like India. He expressed pride that parliamentary documents are now accessible in various Indian languages through AI interfaces. Additionally, he pointed to India's national AI language platform, BHASHINI, as a crucial advancement towards inclusive governance and linguistic empowerment.
He further detailed the transformative role of AI across various sectors. In healthcare, he highlighted AI's impact through initiatives like AI-assisted TB screening, AI-enabled portable X-ray machines, and telemedicine platforms such as eSanjeevani, ensuring that distance does not hinder access to healthcare.
Radhakrishnan mentioned that similar transformative changes are occurring in agriculture, MSMEs, cybersecurity, the judiciary, and administrative frameworks, asserting that just as governance influences every sector, AI is also making significant inroads in all fields.
