Chennai, Jan 17 (NationPress) On the momentous occasion of the 109th birth anniversary of the iconic former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR), the AIADMK has unveiled five pivotal election promises focused on welfare, housing, employment, and women's empowerment, marking the official commencement of its election campaign for the forthcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
The party's General Secretary and former Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, revealed these promises shortly after honoring party legends at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai.
Among the announcements, the foremost is the “Kula Vilakku Scheme”, which aims to provide a monthly financial assistance of Rs 2,000 to all family ration card holders, directly deposited into the head of the family’s bank account, with the intent to alleviate household financial strains.
The second commitment involves free public transport, where the AIADMK has proposed free bus travel for men in city buses, alongside the continuation of the existing free travel scheme for women, thus ensuring complimentary travel for all city bus commuters.
The third promise, encapsulated in the “Amma Illam Scheme”, focuses on providing housing; the state government plans to acquire land and build concrete houses for the homeless in rural areas while constructing apartment-style homes in urban locales, all at no cost to beneficiaries.
A special initiative for Scheduled Caste families was also introduced, offering individual concrete homes to married sons departing from joint households.
The fourth commitment addresses rural employment, with a pledge to extend the working days under the employment guarantee scheme from 100 days to 150 days, surpassing the central government's proposal.
Finally, the expansion of the “Amma Two-Wheeler Scheme” aims to benefit five lakh women by providing them with two-wheelers, supplemented by a Rs 25,000 subsidy each, enhancing their mobility and economic independence.
These five key promises are indicative of the AIADMK's endeavor to rejuvenate its welfare-centric legacy while outlining a clear political strategy as the election season approaches.
