Mumbai, Feb 10 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing uproar regarding the reported use of offensive language by YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia during a show, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis issued a warning on Monday, stating that action will be taken against anyone who breaches the rules.
Fadnavis commented, “I have heard about it, although I haven’t witnessed it myself. It has come to my attention that material has been disseminated in a vulgar manner, which is entirely unacceptable. The freedom of speech is compromised when it infringes upon the rights of others. This is not acceptable. Everyone has their boundaries, and we have established certain regulations. If anyone transgresses these, they will face consequences.”
The Chief Minister’s remarks followed the filing of a complaint against Allahbadia, social media personality Apoorva Makhija, comedian Samay Raina, and the producers of the show India's Got Latent. This complaint has been submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women's Commission for allegedly employing abusive language and calling for strict measures.
Ranveer, who has received the National Creators Award, is facing significant backlash after a clip surfaced from India's Got Latent, in which he poses a disturbing question to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life, or would you join in once and stop it forever?”
Vijay Wadettiwar, the former Leader of the Opposition in the state Assembly and a long-standing Congress member, vehemently criticized Allahbadia, demanding severe repercussions. “Allahbadia has been honored by the Prime Minister. Using derogatory language against parents is a disgrace. Such shows need to be shut down. What they present to young children and future generations is alarming. After hearing this offensive language, I was deeply disturbed,” he stated.
A vast number of social media users expressed their disapproval of Allahbadia's distasteful remark while reflecting on the decline of comedy in the nation. Journalist and songwriter Neelesh Misra, who shared his perspective on X, labeled these creators as 'perverted' for influencing India's creator economy negatively.
