Venugopal Exposes Alleged BJP-CPI(M) Alliance in Kerala
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Thiruvananthapuram, March 21 (NationPress) AICC General Secretary and Alappuzha MP K.C. Venugopal has intensified his criticism of the BJP and CPI(M) in Kerala, alleging a "secret alliance" between the two parties, with Palakkad emerging as a significant battleground.
“The truth is finally out,” Venugopal asserted, highlighting the CPI(M)’s choice to nominate a Left-supported Independent candidate, the renowned hotelier N.M.R. Razaq, as clear proof of a hidden collaboration with the BJP.
He emphasized that this scenario is not unique to Palakkad. “This situation is not confined to Palakkad; similar arrangements are present in several other constituencies as well,” he noted.
Supporting these claims, Congress candidate and well-known actor Ramesh Pisharody described the alleged BJP-CPI(M) connection as an “open secret.” He stated that this understanding extends beyond just Palakkad.
Pisharody also mentioned that he would refrain from bringing his film industry colleagues for campaigning to protect them from potential cyberattacks.
He expressed confidence that the issue concerning Rahul Mamkootathil would not influence the election results.
Palakkad has become one of the most closely monitored contests, featuring a prominent triangular battle among Pisharody, BJP’s dynamic leader Sobha Surendran, and CPI(M)’s unexpected candidate Razaq, known for both his business savvy and popular biryani outlets.
In response to these allegations, Shobha Surendran, who is contesting in the constituency again after finishing second in 2016, dismissed the accusations as a reflection of Congress's anxiety. “It seems that Congress and its leadership have now accepted their impending defeat while we are poised for victory,” she stated.
Opposition Leader V.D. Satheesan remarked that revelations about this secret pact are surfacing, indicating its presence in Palakkad and ten other constituencies, suggesting mutual benefits.
“When CPI(M) supports BJP, the BJP reciprocates, with Chengannur serving as a prime example,” Satheesan added.
