New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday for the inauguration of the new Prime Minister’s Office, ‘Seva Teerth’, labeling it a monumental advancement in prioritizing public service at the core of Indian democracy.
In a social media statement, the Home Minister remarked, “Today marks a pivotal moment in establishing public service at the very heart of Indian democracy, as Modi Ji has inaugurated the new Prime Minister’s Office, ‘Seva Teerth’. This facility represents the government's dedication to service under Modi Ji’s leadership over the past 11 years. By ensuring that development and welfare initiatives reach all citizens, it will serve as a significant milestone in constructing a developed and self-sufficient India.”
The newly established complex, ‘Seva Teerth’, accommodates the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), and the Cabinet Secretariat.
When PM Modi unveiled this remarkable structure, he was joined by several Union Ministers, including MoS in PMO Dr Jitendra Singh, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, along with other notable figures.
The new PMO office is located just about one kilometer from the renowned South Block building on Raisina Hill, establishing a new foundation for governance by bringing the entire administrative framework closer together.
As PM Modi dedicated the newly built ‘Seva Teerth’ and ‘Kartavya Bhavan’ complexes to the Indian populace, he emphasized that these state-of-the-art facilities reflect a profound commitment to citizen-focused governance and national growth, marking a distinct shift away from colonial legacies.
In reflecting on the historical context, the Prime Minister reminded that during British colonial rule, structures like those on Raisina Hills, including South Block and North Block, were designed to convey the authority and vision of the British Empire over an “enslaved” India.
These buildings were intentionally positioned on elevated terrain to symbolize dominance and were vastly different from local architectural styles.
Conversely, PM Modi noted that ‘Seva Teerth’ is designed to connect with the ground level, symbolizing humility and proximity to the people rather than detachment.
He emphasized that while the old colonial edifices were meant to impose the will of a distant ruler, the new complexes are intended to meet the aspirations of 140 crore Indians.
