Prayagraj, Jan 27 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is poised to join the Maha Kumbh festivities in Prayagraj today, where he will partake in a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the revered meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will join the Home Minister for this momentous occasion.
Shah will perform the ritual bath on the 15th day of the Maha Kumbh, coinciding with the organization of a Dharma Sansad aimed at unifying Sanatanis from across the nation.
According to the schedule, Amit Shah is expected to arrive at Bamrauli Airport at 11:25 a.m., then travel to the DPS helipad by helicopter at 11:50 a.m., reaching Arail Ghat by 12 p.m. He will then board a boat to the VIP Jetty, arriving there at 12:15 p.m.
During a recent visit to Gujarat, Shah emphasized the cultural importance of the Maha Kumbh, inviting everyone to participate in this rare event that occurs once every 144 years.
"The Kumbh conveys a message of harmony and unity. It transcends religion, sect, or caste. Food is served without discrimination. No other event in the world delivers such a powerful message of unity as the Maha Kumbh," he stated.
Shah also called upon the youth of Gujarat to experience the Maha Kumbh, sharing personal insights from his nine visits to the Kumbh and witnessing the Ardh Kumbh.
In parallel, the Virat Sanatan Dharma Sansad will be conducted at the Shanti Seva Camp in Sector 17, led by spiritual leader Devkinandan Thakur. This assembly will see participation from Shankaracharyas, leaders of 13 Akharas, and numerous sadhus and saints from around the country, with the aim of promoting unity among followers of Sanatan Dharma.
The Maha Kumbh, an iconic Hindu festival, began on January 13 with the Pavitra Snan and celebrated its second day on Makar Sankranti, coinciding with the Amrit Snan. The festival will conclude on February 26, coinciding with Maha Shivratri. Notable sacred bathing dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya), February 3 (Basant Panchami), February 12 (Magh Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivratri).
Despite the frigid winter, thousands of devotees have been flocking to the Triveni Sangam to engage in this holy tradition. The administration has meticulously organized the event to uphold the customs of Sanatan Dharma while ensuring order and adherence to schedules.
To date, over 10 crore devotees have participated in the holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, marking an extraordinary turnout at the Maha Kumbh.
