Kolkata, Sep 26 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his heartfelt wishes to Goddess Durga for a new government in West Bengal following the upcoming Assembly elections next year.
On Friday morning, HM Shah visited the revered Kalighat Temple and offered prayers to Goddess Kali.
"I sought blessings from Maa Durga so that once the Assembly elections conclude next year, the citizens of West Bengal are blessed with a government that steers the state towards prosperity. I hope peace returns to West Bengal, allowing us to build the state as envisioned by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore," stated the Union Home Minister during the inauguration of the community Durga Puja pandal at Santosh Mitra Square in central Kolkata, organized by BJP councillor Sajal Ghosh.
This year's Puja theme at Santosh Mitra Square is Operation Sindoor, celebrating the bravery of the Indian Armed Forces who dismantled terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir earlier in May.
During the event, HM Shah expressed his aspirations for West Bengal to become a more safe, prosperous, and peaceful state post-elections.
He also conveyed his condolences to the families of ten individuals in West Bengal, including eight from Kolkata, who tragically lost their lives due to electrocution during recent heavy rains. "I extend my heartfelt condolences to the victims' families," Shah remarked.
"May the Durga Puja celebrations in West Bengal, now recognized globally, pave the way for the state's prosperity. Our leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi envisions a 'Vikshit Bharat' through a 'prosperous Bengal'. Let’s work to achieve that dream," concluded the Union Home Minister.
HM Shah also remembered the iconic educationist and philanthropist Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar on his birth anniversary, noting his significant contributions to the development of education and the Bengali language.
Arriving in Kolkata the previous day, he remarked, "Whether it’s the Durga Puja in West Bengal or the Garba-Ras in Gujarat, the entire nation is united in worshipping Mother Durga with fervor and devotion."
