Amit Shah to Unveil White Paper Targeting Trinamool Congress in Bengal
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 28 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to unveil a comprehensive 'White Paper' or 'chargesheet' targeting the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress today. The release will take place during a media briefing at 12 noon.
A member of the BJP's state committee in West Bengal disclosed that the 'White Paper' will document various concerns including failures, misadministration, allegations of corruption, nepotism, and purportedly orchestrated violence stemming from appeasement politics throughout the three terms of the Trinamool Congress administration, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Shah arrived at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport late Friday night. Although his special flight was meant to land at approximately 11:40 P.M., it was delayed and eventually arrived at around 12:25 A.M.
The delay was attributed to poor weather conditions caused by heavy rain and strong winds, which forced his flight to remain airborne for an extended period before landing at around 1:20 A.M.
Prior to his arrival in Kolkata, Shah raised questions about why West Bengal was the only election-bound state embroiled in multiple controversies concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
He noted that in the other two states heading to polls, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, which are also governed by non-BJP parties, there were no such controversies surrounding the revision process.
“Judicial officers were not required there, unlike in West Bengal, nor did any political party hold sit-in protests against the revision exercise,” Shah elaborated.
Interestingly, Shah’s schedule in Kolkata coincides with the release of the second supplementary list of cases awaiting judicial review, published at 11:30 P.M. on Friday.
This list is accessible on the websites of both the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal.
However, specifics regarding the second supplementary list, including the number of processed cases and how many names have been found excludable, have not been disclosed, as no official figures were made available to the media by the ECI as of Saturday morning.
