Amaravati, March 16 (NationPress) The Governor of Andhra Pradesh, S. Abdul Nazeer, along with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, paid significant tributes to Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
The Governor noted that the life of Potti Sriramulu serves as a profound reminder of the remarkable sacrifices made for the collective welfare of society.
Potti Sriramulu is emblematic of selflessness, courage, and the efficacy of nonviolent resistance. His legacy will be cherished by future generations, as stated by the Governor.
Chief Minister Naidu remarked that the people of Telugu heritage consistently honor the great figure, Amarajeevi Sri Potti Sriramulu.
"The sacrifice made by Potti Sriramulu for a separate state underscores the resolve of the Telugu people," CM Naidu expressed on 'X' while commemorating him on his birth anniversary.
Former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party leader Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also offered heartfelt tributes on the anniversary of Potti Sriramulu, celebrating the iconic freedom fighter's lasting legacy.
"As long as the people of Andhra remain, Sri Potti Sriramulu will be eternally remembered. His steadfast resolve and selfless sacrifice for the establishment of a separate state for Telugu-speaking individuals will always inspire us," Jagan Mohan Reddy stated.
Minister for Information Technology, Nara Lokesh, also honored Potti Sriramulu on his birth anniversary.
He emphasized that the great man undertook a hunger strike and ultimately sacrificed his life for the formation of Andhra Pradesh.
"The life of Potti Sriramulu, who gave his life for the creation of a Telugu state, serves as a model for all. His sacrifice is unforgettable. He dedicated his life to truth, nonviolence, and the upliftment of the poor as taught by Mahatma Gandhi. Let us all recommit ourselves to fulfilling the vision of Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu," Lokesh remarked.

Potti Sriramulu passed away in 1952 after a 56-day hunger strike in Madras, advocating for a separate state for the Telugu populace. In 1953, Andhra State was established with Kurnool as its capital, carved out from the then Madras State.
After the reorganization of states based on language, Andhra State merged with Telugu-speaking Telangana to create Andhra Pradesh in 1956.
Telangana was subsequently established as a separate state in 2014.
