Amaravati, June 2 (NationPress) - The Real Team Governance Society of Andhra Pradesh has entered into a significant Memorandum of Understanding with ISRO's SHAR (Sriharikota Range) to utilize space technology for real-time citizen-centric governance.

The five-year MoU was finalized with notable figures including Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, SHAR Director A. Rajarajan, and RTGS CEO Prakhar Jain present at the signing.

CM Naidu hailed this agreement as a pivotal advancement in using space technology to enhance citizen-centric governance in real time.

He stated, “This partnership will enrich the AWARE platform with satellite imagery and scientific insights across more than 42 applications, including agriculture, weather forecasting, disaster management, and urban planning,” as he shared on X.

The AWARE system amalgamates data from satellites, drones, IoT devices, sensors, mobile feeds, and CCTV to provide timely alerts and advisories to both citizens and the government via SMS, WhatsApp, and various media platforms.

AWARE represents the AP Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre, while ISRO's SHAR is also recognized as the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

Earlier this year, on January 30, the state government initiated WhatsApp Governance, dubbed “Mana Mitra,” to facilitate seamless citizen services through WhatsApp, starting with 161 services, which were expanded to 200 in March.

In another update, the Chief Minister disclosed a meeting with a NASSCOM delegation, including President Rajesh Nambiar, Vice President and Head of Membership & Outreach Srikanth Srinivasan, and ER&D head Siva Prasad Polimetla, to strategize on positioning Andhra Pradesh as a premier global tech hub through innovation, talent acquisition, and infrastructure development.

Naidu emphasized, “For India’s expanding tech sector, driven by GCCs, ER&D, and AI, Andhra Pradesh stands out as an appealing alternative to overcrowded tech hubs, offering distinctive advantages.”

Key initiatives discussed include an AI, Quantum, and GovTech Innovation Sandbox for pilot testing, a 100K Tech Apprentice Programme to bridge the skills gap, a Coastal Cloud & Cyber Corridor for sustainable data infrastructure, and the Andhra for Bharat initiative aimed at amplifying rural tech solutions.
