Itanagar, Oct 6 (NationPress) The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.), articulated on Monday that in the evolving digital landscape, issues such as cyber crimes, propaganda, and extremist ideologies are introducing new vulnerabilities, predominantly affecting the youth and fueling unrest.
During the inauguration of the Psychotropic Substances and Psychosocial Centre and Human Performance Laboratory at the Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), Pasighat Campus, situated in East Siang District, the Governor emphasized that a zero tolerance approach towards traffickers must be accompanied by compassion and support for individuals battling addiction.
Reflecting on contemporary geo-political dynamics and strategic defense, the Governor remarked that society is confronted with numerous challenges that jeopardize our peace, unity, and security.
“The challenges encompass the misuse of activism, escalating religious discord, protests that can become disruptive, and the increasing threats posed by terrorism and insurgencies. Although these issues are intricate, they are not beyond resolution. The path forward lies in harmonizing freedom with responsibility, fostering trust within communities, enhancing security, and leveraging technology judiciously,” he stated.
The Governor acknowledged that collective awareness and community involvement are essential for constructing a safer, more robust, and cohesive society. Lt. General Parnaik (Retd.) also digitally inaugurated the foundation stone for the Centre of Excellence for Testing of Drugs at RRU’s Pasighat Campus.
The Governor praised RRU and the District Police for their progressive initiatives that integrate science-led enforcement with a compassionate approach to rehabilitation. He emphasized that these measures will fortify Arunachal Pradesh’s fight against drugs and protect the youth’s future.
