Guwahati, Feb 14 (NationPress) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has once again targeted Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for his recent meeting with the Pakistan High Commissioner, questioning the implications of his parliamentary inquiries concerning national security.

In a post on X, CM Sarma stated, "After the meeting with Pakistani Ambassador Md Abdul Basit (2014-17), the Hon'ble MP started raising questions in Parliament that could potentially unveil sensitive information pertaining to India’s nuclear program. The timing of these inquiries raises critical concerns regarding their intent and possible ramifications."

CM Sarma also noted that following the central government's negative stance towards then Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit, Gogoi ceased his defense-related inquiries in the Lok Sabha.

In his X post, he highlighted, "Interestingly, once India began taking a serious view of Abdul Basit’s actions, the Hon'ble MP's focus on defense and nuclear matters significantly diminished—a trend that deserves further examination."

He pointed out, "After the meeting with the Pakistan High Commissioner, questions concerning defense and security emerged in Parliament. The 26/11 Mumbai attacks revealed significant weaknesses in India's coastal security. In this regard, Question No. 2 posed by the Hon'ble MP specifically sought comprehensive details on coastal radar installations, including their specifications and costs."

“The 26/11 Mumbai attacks revealed significant weaknesses in India's coastal security. In this regard, Question No. 2 posed by the Hon'ble MP specifically sought comprehensive details on coastal radar installations, including their specifications and costs," he remarked.

He raised several questions in his X post: "Why would an MP from Assam—a landlocked region—request classified information on coastal radar systems? What was the justification for publishing such sensitive information? Why did this inquiry occur shortly after the MP's meeting with the Pakistani High Commissioner?"

"Considering the implications for national security, can this simply be brushed aside as coincidence?" the CM questioned.

Additionally, allegations surfaced suggesting that Gaurav Gogoi's wife, UK-born Elizabeth Colebourn, has not acquired Indian citizenship despite being married to the Congress leader for over 13 years.
