Bansuri Swaraj Exposes Absence of 'Sanjeevani Yojana' According to Delhi Health Secretary

New Delhi, Dec 24 (NationPress) BJP's New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj on Tuesday claimed that the AAP government is deceiving the elderly in the capital by promoting a fictitious 'Sanjeevani Yojana'. She stated that the Health Secretary of the Delhi government informed her and L-G V. K. Saxena that no such health insurance scheme is in place.
While addressing the media, Swaraj mentioned that she recently attended a meeting organized by the L-G aimed at addressing issues faced by the elderly. During this meeting, the Health Secretary disclosed to a participant that the Delhi government does not have a scheme known as 'Sanjeevani Yojana'.
"We have encountered electoral jumalas (promises) in the past, but the AAP has introduced a new form of electoral chalawa (deceit)," Swaraj stated, urging senior citizens not to be misled by the promises made by Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Atishi regarding this non-existent health insurance scheme.
"Please refrain from sharing your personal information with AAP volunteers under the guise of registering for the fictitious 'Sanjeevani Yojana'," she added.
Swaraj criticized the ruling AAP party for focusing solely on 'Prachar, Prasar and Brashtachar' (Publicity, propaganda, and corruption), asserting that the AAP government has obstructed the rollout of the Central government's Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, which provides Rs 5 lakh in free treatment to all elderly individuals over 70.
Prior to the Assembly elections, AAP convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the initiation of 'Sanjeevani Yojana' for senior citizens aged over 60, offering free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in both government and private hospitals.
Earlier, Swaraj criticized the Delhi government for "driving the city into debt due to its extravagant spending, particularly on publicity."
"For the first time in 31 years, the Delhi government is facing a deficit of Rs 7,000 crore," she stated, condemning the AAP government for issues such as contaminated water supply, inflated electricity bills, and the poor condition of government schools and mohalla clinics.
She also targeted Chief Minister Atishi regarding the newly launched Mahila Samman Yojana, which aims to provide financial assistance to women.
"In March, just before the Lok Sabha elections, the AAP introduced this scheme, but to date, not a single rupee has been disbursed to women," she remarked.
Calling the registration process initiated by AAP volunteers for the scheme a "farce," Swaraj questioned, "The AAP government did not pay the promised financial assistance of Rs 1,000 to women in Punjab, so what assurance do we have that the Delhi government will honor its commitment to provide Rs 2,100 after the Assembly elections?"
The elections for the 70-member Assembly are anticipated to occur in the first half of February next year.
