New Delhi, April 23 (NationPress) The Vice-President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rajeev Shukla, has expressed his condolences following the tragic terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, located in Jammu and Kashmir. This attack occurred in the Baisaran Valley, a picturesque meadow in Pahalgam, a well-known tourist spot approximately 30 miles southeast of Srinagar, on Tuesday, causing widespread shock across the nation.

“This is an incredibly sorrowful incident. The manner in which innocent tourists were targeted and killed is deeply upsetting, and it is imperative that a thorough investigation and decisive action take place. The entire nation stands united in this demand,” Shukla informed IANS.

The attack has been claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist group, The Resistance Front, which is linked to the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, making it one of the most severe assaults in the area in recent memory.

Earlier that day, sources revealed to IANS that players and umpires in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 are set to don black armbands during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians as a tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. Additionally, a moment of silence will be observed before the match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday night, as confirmed by Shukla.

“The BCCI has firmly condemned this incident. In the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians, there will be no music played, no cheerleaders, and players will wear black armbands while also observing a minute of silence for the victims,” he added.

Ongoing political tensions between the nations have resulted in the Indian cricket team refraining from traveling to Pakistan since 2008, and no matches have occurred outside of men's major tournaments since 2013.

When questioned about the potential impact on future India vs Pakistan matches, he responded, “India and Pakistan do not engage in bilateral series, and we will continue to act according to government directives.”
