Kolkata, Feb 18 (NationPress) The West Bengal Assembly is poised for an extraordinary display of political rivalry on Tuesday during the latter part of the ongoing budget session, featuring simultaneous addresses from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee within the Assembly and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Suvendu Adhikari outside the premises.

According to the agenda, the Chief Minister is projected to arrive at the Assembly around 1:30 p.m. to present her remarks on the motion of thanks concerning the February 10 address delivered by Governor C.V. Ananda Bose. There is a strong likelihood that the Chief Minister’s address will be broadcast live by the Assembly.

Simultaneously, the LoP, who faced a one-month suspension from the House on Monday, will be articulating his remarks regarding the Governor’s address from outside the Assembly. He has declared that his address will also be streamed live on his social media platforms. In addition to his personal account, the speech will also be broadcasted live on a specific social media page created for this purpose, named 'BJP legislature party'.

During the Chief Minister’s address in the second half, BJP legislators are set to boycott the Assembly proceedings.

The LoP has already asserted that his audience will surpass that of the Chief Minister. On Monday, besides the LoP, three additional BJP legislators—fashion designer-turned-politician Agnimitra Paul, Bankim Ghosh, and Biswanath Karak—were suspended for a month.

The suspension of the four BJP legislators occurred after they protested against the rejection of an adjournment motion presented by Paul, addressing the assaults on various Hindu religious festivals in the state, notably during the Saraswati Puja earlier this month, which was not permitted for discussion, even though Paul was allowed to read it in the House.

Speaker Biman Bandopadhyay informed the media that the suspension was due to the unruly conduct of the four BJP legislators, who tore apart Assembly papers and threw them towards the Speaker’s chair.
