Bengal Court Delivers Justice: One Death Sentence in Gruesome Rape-Murder Case

Kolkata, Dec 13 (NationPress) A district court in Murshidabad, West Bengal, on Friday, imposed the death penalty on one of the convicts and sentenced the other to life imprisonment in the horrific case involving the rape and murder of a minor girl that occurred in Farkka in October.
The convict, Dinobondhu Halder, received the death sentence from the Jangipur Fast Track Court in Murshidabad, while the co-convict, Subhojit Halder, was given a life term.
The entire legal process, including the charge sheet, trial, conviction, and sentencing, was concluded within a remarkable two-month period since the crime's occurrence. Both individuals were found guilty by the same court.
Just last week, a similar case saw the swift completion of legal proceedings when a fast-track court in South 24 Parganas sentenced Mustakin Sarkar to death in another minor rape and murder case at Jayanagar, only 62 days after the incident.
Interestingly, the sentencing for the Farkka rape and murder case coincided with the day a special court in Kolkata granted bail to the controversial former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College & Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, and the former SHO of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, regarding a shocking case of rape and murder of a junior doctor in the hospital’s premises back in August.
The bail was approved because the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to submit a supplementary charge sheet that would substantiate the allegations against Ghosh and Mondal of obstructing the investigation and tampering with evidence during the initial inquiry conducted by Kolkata Police.
The trial for the R.G. Kar rape and murder case continues at the same special court in Kolkata, being processed on a fast-track and daily basis.
