Bengaluru, Sep 24 (NationPress) - The police in Bengaluru have registered an FIR against a cricket coach and Physical Education instructor affiliated with a private school. He stands accused of taking advantage of a 33-year-old divorcee, whose child is enrolled at the institution, after allegedly assuring her of marriage.
The FIR was filed at the Konanakunte police station on Wednesday, and an investigation is currently underway.
The complainant revealed that she had divorced due to mistreatment from her spouse.
She further asserted that, lacking support from her siblings, she had to depend on friends for assistance.
Her acquaintance with Abhay V Mathew began when she sought help in arranging a sports racket for her daughter. During a financially challenging period, he lent her Rs 2,000 and provided her with encouragement.
The woman alleged that Mathew claimed to be affiliated with the Aam Aadmi Party and had a police background, suggesting he could assist her during her marital issues.
She reported that he accommodated her in a residence in Shanubhoganahalli until her divorce was finalized. Subsequently, he allegedly engaged in intimate relations with her under the pretext of marriage. Each time she inquired about their wedding plans, he supposedly postponed, stating he would marry her once his parents consented.
"I placed my complete trust in him. On Tuesday, I found out I was pregnant. On Saturday, he vanished with my phone and belongings. When I checked with neighbors, they informed me he had departed early that morning with his family, taking my clothes and luggage," the woman recounted to the media.
She further accused the police of initially being unwilling to register her complaint and acting unprofessionally. "Their demeanor was callous, compounding my suffering. Without support, they hesitated to take action. They even questioned whether I approached him with police guidance," she stated.
"I am pregnant, and during this time, the police subjected me to further difficulties. I have only this as proof of my relationship with Abhay. When I asked what would happen if I had a miscarriage, they said they could not assist," she added.
The FIR has been filed under Sections 351(2) and 352(69) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act.
According to the FIR, the accused allegedly threatened the woman and verbally abused her when she pressed for marriage.
In a twist, Mathew later released a video asserting he had traveled to Kerala for a property dispute and reaffirmed his commitment to marrying her.
Additionally, there are emerging allegations that Mathew has targeted other mothers of students at the school. Disturbing videos and images purportedly showing the accused in compromising situations with various women have surfaced on social media.
