Patna, Feb 8 (NationPress) Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is scheduled to arrive in Bettiah on Sunday to inaugurate the eagerly awaited cantonment overbridge.
The newly built railway overbridge, situated in the cantonment region of the city, is anticipated to provide considerable relief from traffic congestion for the local populace.
For many years, the railway gate in this area remained closed, leading to significant traffic jams and leaving commuters stuck for hours.
This enhanced infrastructure aims to improve daily commuting, assist in more efficient transportation of goods, and decrease prolonged traffic delays.
Residents of the city will no longer have to face lengthy traffic jams, ensuring more fluid and quicker travel.
With this inauguration, the residents of Bettiah can finally look forward to uninterrupted travel, upgraded road infrastructure, and enhanced economic activities in the region.
The strategically positioned Cantonment Overbridge links three main roads: Bettiah–Lauriya Road, Bettiah–Narkatiaganj Road, and Bettiah–Mainatand Road.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to feature local leaders, including Bettiah MP Sanjay Jaiswal, Bihar’s Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Renu Devi, officials, and community members who have been eagerly awaiting the completion of this essential infrastructure project.
The former Minister of State for Railways, Manoj Sinha, initiated the construction of the Railway Overbridge (ROB) on April 22, 2017.
The Cantonment Overbridge was approved with an estimated budget of Rs 103 crore. However, the contractor failed to meet deadlines, resulting in multiple extensions and growing frustration among commuters and residents. Due to these delays, the project's costs also escalated.
Even six years post the foundation stone's laying in 2018, only one section of the overbridge was completed by February 2024. Now, with the completion of the Bettiah-Narkatiaganj and Bettiah-Mainatand sections, the overbridge is fully operational.
The NDA is preparing for the upcoming Assembly election in Bihar, and infrastructure projects like this are a testament to the achievements of the double-engine government.
