Patna, Jan 29 (NationPress) Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary conveyed his sorrow regarding the tragic incident at the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh stampede and urged citizens to remain composed and disregard any rumours. He assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath are closely overseeing the situation and providing necessary support.

“I call upon everyone to maintain their calm and steer clear of rumours. The situation is being managed effectively,” Choudhary stated.

BJP Bihar President Dilip Jaiswal also expressed his condolences, labeling the event as profoundly distressing.

He noted that although the Uttar Pradesh government had made commendable arrangements, the number of attendees surpassed expectations.

Multiple casualties are anticipated following a “stampede-like” scenario that emerged at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj during the early hours of Wednesday.

While precise numbers are not yet confirmed, officials reported that the injured have been transported to the central hospital set up at the Kumbh grounds.

At least 10 crore pilgrims were anticipated to gather at the Maha Kumbh Mela today to partake in the holy dip in the river on the auspicious occasion of “Mauni Amavasya”. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath advised devotees to avoid approaching the ‘Sangam nose’, where the incident occurred.

Dilip Jaiswal criticized Congress leaders for allegedly ridiculing the devotees attending the Kumbh Mela. He questioned their willingness to challenge Haj pilgrims, affirming that the BJP holds all religious customs in respect.

Jaiswal also took a jab at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, asserting, “One part of his body is not fully developed, and that is his brain.” He accused Gandhi of hypocrisy, highlighting his fluctuating position on AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal—sometimes shaking hands with him, sometimes criticizing him.

Bihar Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary is campaigning in Delhi on Wednesday. Before departing for Delhi, he stated in Patna that the BJP would secure the next administration in Delhi, condemning Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for purportedly insulting the residents of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

“Kejriwal was implicated in the liquor scandal and is accountable for the proliferation of liquor stores throughout Delhi. The electorate will penalize him in the forthcoming assembly elections,” Choudhary asserted.
