Bihar Chief Minister Delays Pragati Yatra to Honor Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

Patna, Dec 27 (NationPress) The Bihar administration has decided to delay Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Pragati Yatra scheduled for Friday, in light of the passing of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The Chief Minister's planned visits to Muzaffarpur on Friday, December 27, and Vaishali on Saturday, aimed at showcasing development initiatives, have both been postponed as a gesture of reverence.
The Pragati Yatra was meant to include a visit to the Panchayat Bhawan in Narauli Panchayat and an assessment of ongoing development efforts in Muzaffarpur. However, these activities have been deferred in recognition of the somber occasion.
In expressing his sorrow, Nitish Kumar took to X late Thursday night, labeling Dr Manmohan Singh’s passing as a monumental loss to Indian politics. He acknowledged Singh as a proficient politician and economist who directed India’s economy toward a new trajectory.
"The passing of Dr Manmohan Singh ji is an irreplaceable loss for Indian politics. I pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul," Kumar conveyed.
Dr Manmohan Singh's demise has ignited a wave of tributes from across the country, with political figures reflecting on his significant contributions to India's economic and political fabric.
In addition to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Pragati Yatra, events scheduled by Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, along with Agriculture Minister Mangal Pandey, have also been postponed.
Dr Manmohan Singh, aged 92, passed away at AIIMS, Delhi. As per reports, he was rushed to the emergency department on Thursday evening in a critical state after fainting unexpectedly. He was admitted around 8:30 p.m. but could not be revived.
The passing of Dr Singh, a highly esteemed economist and politician who held the office of India’s Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, has been met with widespread mourning across the nation. Political leaders, including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, have shared their condolences, emphasizing Singh’s essential role in shaping India’s economic strategies and governance.
