Bihar: Investigation Launched Against Principal Who Left for Grocery Shopping During School Hours

Patna, Dec 14 (NationPress) The Bihar Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department has initiated an inquiry on Saturday against a school principal located in the Mushari area of Madhubani district after it was discovered that he had gone out to buy vegetables while school was in session.
The Chief Secretary conducts monitoring sessions with at least 10 schools daily through video conferencing. During a call on Saturday, he ordered the inquiry against the principal.
He also contacted the Tola Sevak (a village volunteer in Bihar focused on enhancing educational and social welfare for children and women) and requested him to provide an update on the school's status during the video call. He was astonished to learn that the principal was absent, having left to purchase vegetables during school hours.
The school had only two operational classes, with students found seated on sacks as makeshift benches, as proper desks had not been supplied by the district education department.
The Tola Sevak informed him that although six teachers were assigned to the school, only one teacher was present during the inspection.
The remaining teachers were reportedly engaged in biometric document verification tasks at the district office.
The Chief Secretary also expressed concerns regarding student attendance. Upon reviewing the two functional classes, he noted only 13 children were present in one class and 22 in the other, despite the school officially enrolling 137 students.
