Patna, Jan 27 (NationPress) Two young individuals lost their lives while another sustained critical injuries in a road mishap on Monday in the Khagaul region of Patna, Bihar.
The accident took place at Kothwa Mor under the Rupaspur police jurisdiction when a speeding black Creta SUV collided with their motorcycle. The deceased have been identified as Rajiv Ranjan (20) and Shashi Nikhil (18), also known as Nishu.
They were riding towards Khagaul when the SUV struck their bike, dragging it over a significant distance. Following the collision, the SUV driver fled the scene.
Quick to act, passersby rescued the injured individuals and rushed them to Patna AIIMS. Unfortunately, Rajiv Ranjan and Shashi Nikhil succumbed to their injuries, while Abhimanyu is currently fighting for his life at the hospital.
The Station House Officer of Rupaspur stated that an FIR has been lodged under charges of reckless driving based on eyewitness testimony.
“We are actively working to track the location of the SUV and apprehend the driver. We are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle and have alerted local automobile repair shops to notify the police if any SUV arrives for repair,” said the SHO.
The families of the victims mentioned that Abhimanyu had visited Nishu earlier that afternoon, inviting him to join him. The tragic accident transpired around 3:30 PM.
Upon learning of the incident, the families rushed to the scene and subsequently to the hospital. The police have seized the motorcycle, which has the registration number BR01FV3505, and are continuing their investigation.
Efforts are ongoing to locate the SUV and ensure the driver faces justice.
In a separate incident earlier, a government school teacher lost her life, and the principal suffered serious injuries when a large tree branch fell on them in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on Monday.
This unfortunate event, recorded on CCTV, occurred in the Meenapur area while the teacher and principal were commuting to school on a two-wheeler.
The deceased teacher was identified as Vishakha, while Phoolbabu Rai, the principal, is currently receiving treatment in a local medical facility.
