New Delhi, Aug 18 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delivered a fierce critique of the Opposition on Monday, asserting that the Congress and other factions within the INDIA bloc aim to foster disorder and confusion in the nation to convert a group of infiltrators into their electoral support base. BJP representative Sambit Patra, during a press briefing at the party headquarters, condemned the opposition for dismissing the Election Commission’s explanation regarding the Bihar Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue, declaring that their primary goal is to shield and harbor infiltrators, subsequently transforming them into a vote bank.
He cautioned that the country’s resources are reserved for its rightful citizens, emphasizing that infiltrators can never be recognized as voters.
According to him, the Supreme Court has unequivocally stated that the Election Commission, as a constitutional entity, has the authority to formulate and refine voter lists, making any objections to this process unacceptable and indefensible.
“The Congress and Opposition factions are intent on instigating chaos and turmoil in the streets, reminiscent of situations in neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, hoping to reap political benefits from the ensuing disorder. They overlook that India is a profoundly rich civilization, where its people can discern the difference between anarchists and honorable citizens,” he noted.
In a jab at the Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, he stated that they have previously engaged in ‘jail yatra’ and ‘bail yatra’, and this march is merely another effort to deceive the electorate.
“Two families have been involved in fraud themselves; still, they have the audacity to attack constitutional institutions, accusing them of misconduct,” Patra remarked.
In response to a joint press conference held by the INDIA bloc, which included leaders from the Congress, SP, TMC, DMK, and other parties, Patra pointed out that they consistently disparage every institution in the nation and resort to complaints when confronted with reality.
“They treat the Prime Minister’s position as their birthright, and upon losing elections, they immediately blame the election authorities,” he stated.
He expressed strong disapproval of the Opposition's call for the dissolution of the Lok Sabha.
Highlighting their inconsistency, he mentioned that the Election Commission has repeatedly invited them to formally register their complaints, yet they have never documented their issues.
He further stated that the Election Commission had provided an extensive presentation regarding the SIR, addressing all technical concerns, but those unwilling to comprehend will never concede.
He accused those criticizing the electoral body of wanting to incite anarchy and chaos in the nation to gain political leverage.
“They deride every constitutional organization in the country. When the Ram Mandir verdict was announced, they attacked the Supreme Court decision, labeling it as biased. They are the same individuals who questioned the valor of the Indian Army and demanded proof of surgical strikes,” the Lok Sabha MP emphasized.
The BJP representative also criticized the Congress and Opposition groups for disrupting parliamentary proceedings and hindering discussions on Subhanshu Shukla’s space mission.
Mocking the Opposition, he recounted how Union Minister Jitendra Singh cleverly responded to their disruption tactics during his introductory remarks on Subhanshu Shukla, stating, “I am in space, and your disruptive tactics will not succeed here.”
