Patna, Oct 25 (NationPress) The legal team of the Bihar BJP has submitted an official complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, alleging that he disseminated an AI-generated video designed to tarnish the reputations of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary.
The complaint was initiated by Bindhayachal Rai, who oversees the BJP’s legal and election commission coordination in Bihar.
“We have approached the Election Commission regarding a highly objectionable and misleading AI-generated video shared by Tejashwi Yadav on his official Facebook account,” Rai remarked.
“The video portrays Samrat Choudhary and Nitish Kumar in a false light using AI-generated content with misleading statements aimed at skewing public perception and influencing voters during the current election cycle,” he continued.
Rai included the video link in his complaint.
The BJP contended that Yadav’s actions constitute character assassination and breach the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
The complaint referenced Section 123(4) of the Act, which categorizes the dissemination of false statements regarding a candidate's personal character as a “corrupt practice.”
Describing the video as a deceptive deep fake, the BJP urged the ECI to impose swift penalties on Tejashwi Yadav and direct Facebook/Meta to remove the video while preserving its metadata for further investigation.
Rai also called for the Commission to launch an inquiry via the Cyber Cell and the ECI’s nodal officer to track the source and alterations of the AI-generated video.
“I am confident that the Commission will act promptly and decisively to maintain the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that such violations are addressed firmly,” Rai concluded in the complaint.
The campaign for the Bihar Assembly elections is currently in full swing, with senior leaders from the NDA and the Grand Alliance targeting each other aggressively.
