Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 25 (NationPress) The Telangana unit of the BJP has called upon Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla to instruct the Assembly Speaker to impose suspension on AIMIM MLAs for their apparent disrespect towards the national song within the Assembly.
A delegation led by state President N. Ramchander Rao met the Governor at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday, presenting a memorandum that demanded action against the AIMIM MLAs.
The BJP highlighted that during the Assembly's budget session on March 16—when 'Vande Mataram' was recited, a song recently designated as the national song by the Union Home Ministry to mark its 150th anniversary—the AIMIM members chose to walk out of the House.
The BJP emphasized the significance of 'Vande Mataram', which has inspired countless young people and citizens in their struggle against British colonial rule. “Given the profound legacy of 'Vande Mataram', the act of AIMIM MLAs exiting the Assembly while it was being recited is an act of contempt, a disservice, and a blatant insult to the nation,” the memorandum stated.
The party also criticized the AIMIM MLAs for demonstrating a disregard for national symbols. “This incident reiterates the AIMIM party's questionable allegiance to the nation and raises concerns about their patriotism,” it noted.
The BJP urged the Governor to direct the Speaker of the Telangana Assembly to take necessary actions, including the suspension of the AIMIM MLAs who walked out during the recitation of 'Vande Mataram' in the House.
“Your decisive action in this matter will serve as a crucial lesson for those who show no respect for national symbols and songs,” it concluded.
