Ranchi, Sep 11 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized protests throughout Jharkhand, pressing for a CBI investigation into the purported encounter of tribal leader Surya Hansda while also opposing the planned RIMS-II hospital project in Ranchi.
In Ranchi, state BJP president Babulal Marandi spearheaded a protest march commencing from the District School and concluding at the Deputy Commissioner’s office through Shaheed Chowk and Kachhari Road.
Prominent leaders, including MLA C.P. Singh and Metropolitan President Varun Sahu, joined a significant number of party members in the procession.
Marandi asserted that Hansda was murdered in a “fake encounter” orchestrated by the Godda police.
“He was subjected to electric shocks, killed, and then his body was presented as an encounter casualty. The absence of blood at the scene indicates that the murder occurred elsewhere. Only a CBI inquiry can unveil the truth,” he stated.
Referring to Hansda as a social activist and tribal leader who contested assembly elections four times, Marandi highlighted his support for over 250 underprivileged tribal children in terms of education, housing, and nutrition.
The BJP also opposed the proposed RIMS-II Medical College at Nagdi, Ranchi. Marandi accused the government of “forcibly acquiring fertile land” despite the presence of barren land in the state.
“The Hemant Soren government, which claims to advocate for tribal welfare, is in reality infringing upon tribal rights,” he stated.
MLA C.P. Singh echoed these concerns, remarking, “The current administration in Jharkhand is anti-tribal. The plundering of tribal lands has only escalated.”
As part of the statewide protest, separate demonstrations occurred in other district headquarters. Acting state president Dr. Ravindra Kumar led protests in Sariya (Giridih district), while Rajya Sabha MP Aditya Sahu conducted a sit-in at the Angada block office in Ranchi, where BJP members chanted slogans against the Hemant Soren government.
