BJP Protests in Amritsar for Justice in Gagandeep Randhawa Case
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Amritsar, April 4 (NationPress) On Saturday, the BJP organized a significant state-level protest in Amritsar, advocating for justice for the family of Gagandeep Randhawa, the District Manager of the state Warehousing Corporation, and calling for a CBI probe into the matter.
During the demonstration, Sunil Jakhar, the President of the state BJP, stated that the party's struggle will persist until justice is served for Randhawa's family. He pointed out that this movement transcends politics; it is a quest for justice. He expressed concern that what transpired with Randhawa could affect anyone, uniting every Punjabi in this cause.
Jakhar insisted that all individuals implicated, including the ex-minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, should face consequences. He commended the family for their bravery in standing resolutely amid governmental pressure.
He noted that the death of the individual responsible for disconnecting the family's electricity during police custody has added complexity to the situation. A comprehensive CBI investigation is essential to uncover the truth, including the alleged flow of money collected through extortion by the minister.
Furthermore, Jakhar mentioned a separate harassment case involving a woman from Tarn Taran district, where an AAP MLA was acquitted via a compromise, asserting that the government is attempting to manage this case similarly. He warned that the citizens of Punjab will not permit such actions.
Jakhar criticized the Chief Minister, alleging that Punjab is not governed by Bhagwant Mann, but rather by Arvind Kejriwal, branding Mann a mere “nominal Chief Minister.” He proclaimed that the people of Punjab are determined to ensure that their state is governed by its own citizens, rejecting any outside exploitation.
He accused the government of being unresponsive and failing to acknowledge the pleas of those demanding justice. Addressing the attack on the BJP headquarters, Jakhar asserted that such actions will not intimidate the BJP, which will persist in its efforts to ensure that the perpetrators of the capable officer's murder are brought to justice, preventing any innocent individuals from falling victim to fake encounters, and delivering justice to the people of Punjab.
Questioning the Chief Minister’s assertions regarding employment, he asked how many youths have been compelled to join gangster networks under this administration. He turned his focus to the Congress party, questioning Rahul Gandhi about whether the MPs seeking a CBI inquiry are traitors or if those who refuse to support such investigations after capitulating to Mann's government are traitors.
He alleged that the state Congress president has submitted to the Chief Minister, who in turn has submitted to Arvind Kejriwal. While political figures may bow down, Jakhar asserted, “Punjab does not bow; it knows how to demand justice.”
He concluded by stating that Punjab is monitoring those who are not aligning with it in this pursuit for justice.
