Kolkata, Feb 20 (NationPress) The West Bengal wing of the BJP is tirelessly striving to solicit the intervention of Governor C. V. Ananda Bose regarding Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's controversial 'Mrityu Kumbh' statement.
On Thursday, all members of the BJP's legislative team in the Assembly, spearheaded by Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, will march from the Assembly to Raj Bhavan to present a formal request to the Governor concerning the 'Mrityu Kumbh' comment.
Furthermore, the BJP legislators plan to request the Governor's assistance in overturning the suspension of four party legislators, including Adhikari, which has been in effect for a month.
The first phase of the current Budget session in West Bengal is set to conclude on Thursday, with the second phase scheduled to run from March 10 to March 20.
On Wednesday, the state BJP president and Union Minister of State, Sukanta Majumdar, dispatched two separate letters to the Governor urging him to remove the Chief Minister's 'Mrityu Kumbh' comment from the Assembly records and to advocate for the reinstatement of the four suspended legislators.
The Governor has yet to comment on the Chief Minister's remarks regarding the Maha Kumbh, which have drawn widespread condemnation.
In defense of the Chief Minister, senior Trinamool Congress leader Manas Ranjan Bhunia stated that her words had been taken out of context.
"No one in the state government has attempted to disparage the Maha Kumbh. The Chief Minister did not criticize the event; she spoke about the fatalities caused by administrative failures there. Additionally, a federal report indicated high levels of faecal contamination in the river water at Prayagraj," Bhunia asserted.
