New Delhi, Feb 13 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will determine the new Chief Minister for Delhi only after Prime Minister Narendra Modi returns from his trip to the United States, according to sources on Thursday. It has been confirmed that the selection will be made from the MLAs and there will be no Deputy Chief Minister position created.

As per party insiders, BJP National President J.P. Nadda has emphasized that the Chief Minister will be chosen among the elected MLAs, with the Legislature Party convening to finalize the leader only after the PM’s return.

Sources also reveal that a key focus of the new BJP-led administration will be the clean-up of the Yamuna River. Efforts in this direction have already commenced, as the party aims to fulfill its commitment to revitalize the severely polluted river.

Moreover, the Ayushman Bharat health insurance initiative, which offers financial support for medical expenses to marginalized individuals, will be rolled out in Delhi—something the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government failed to implement.

Nadda has also suggested that significant policy decisions are anticipated during the first cabinet meeting, which is expected to occur right after the swearing-in event.

Sources further mentioned that the new BJP government in Delhi will not include a Deputy Chief Minister.

The party has conducted several meetings involving senior leaders following the election results. Another round of discussions is expected to take place in two days.

The current term of the Delhi Assembly will conclude on February 26, necessitating that the new government assumes office by that date.

In the recent Delhi Assembly elections, held on February 5, the BJP achieved a sweeping victory, claiming 48 out of 70 seats. The AAP, which had governed the national capital for a decade, faced a significant defeat, securing only 22 seats, while the Congress failed to win any seats for the third consecutive time.

The election results were disclosed on February 8.
