The National BJP President articulated his profound concern on Monday regarding the severe monsoon rains, landslides, and flooding impacting residents in all eight northeastern states since the previous week. Nadda mentioned in a post on X, "I am deeply troubled for those impacted by the relentless heavy rainfall in parts of the Northeastern states."
He further stated, "I have instructed BJP state units and Karyakartas to offer all conceivable assistance in line with the provided guidelines. I encourage everyone in affected areas to take necessary precautions, refrain from unnecessary travel, and adhere to advisories from local authorities."
As a result of the floods and landslides triggered by the intense rains, at least 35 individuals, including women and children, have lost their lives across six northeastern states—Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and Nagaland.
Officials from various northeastern states reported that among the 35 fatalities during the current rainfall and flooding since May 29, there were at least 10 deaths each in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, followed by six in Meghalaya and Mizoram, two in Tripura, and one in Nagaland. Disaster management officials attributed the deaths to drowning, landslides, and waterlogging.
