BJP Urges Delhi Chief Minister Atishi to Allocate Funds for MCD Educators' Salaries

New Delhi, Jan 10 (NationPress) Addressing the challenges faced by contractual teachers within the Delhi government and MCD educational institutions, Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor wrote a letter to Chief Minister Atishi on Friday, urging her to release ₹8 crore to the civic body to settle the pending salaries of a group of teachers.
Kapoor criticized the government led by Atishi, as well as the previous administration of Arvind Kejriwal, for the supposed injustices inflicted on educators.
The BJP spokesperson asserted that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which touts its significant educational reforms, has merely engaged in propaganda without tangible outcomes.
After a decade in power, the Kejriwal administration has failed to resolve the issues surrounding the regularization of guest teachers, leaving their situations unaddressed, he noted.
Various categories of contract teachers, including those from Special Training Centres (STC) under the Delhi Government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, have been struggling to receive their salaries for several months, he added.
In his correspondence with the CM, the Delhi BJP spokesperson pointed out the unfortunate reality that the failure of the Delhi Government to allocate funds to the Municipal Corporation has resulted in STC teachers associated with municipal schools not receiving their salaries for the past five months.
Kapoor insisted that the Chief Minister should direct the Education Department of the Delhi Government to urgently release ₹8 crore to the Municipal Corporation to facilitate the payment of outstanding salaries to STC teachers.
Earlier in the day, the BJP organized a substantial protest outside Kejriwal’s residence against the perceived “insult” directed at the Purvanchal community.
Santosh Ojha, president of the BJP Purvanchal Morcha, claimed that Kejriwal views Purvanchalis merely as a vote bank and has been misleading them for a decade.
Furthermore, he accused Kejriwal of favoring the settlement of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis while neglecting the needs of the Purvanchali community.
Ojha asserted that this time, the community would play a crucial role in opposing the AAP government.
Another leader, Abhay Verma, criticized Kejriwal for mocking the community, emphasizing the significance of Purvanchalis in the governance of Delhi and highlighting the irony that while others are acknowledged as residents of Delhi, individuals from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh face discrimination.
Richa Pandey Mishra, President of the Delhi BJP Women’s Wing, commented on the glaring disparity between Kejriwal’s words and actions, condemning him for his anti-Purvanchali remarks.
