New Delhi, June 30 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi has expressed strong disapproval of the INDIA bloc's renewed resistance to Waqf reforms. He asserted that the present government will not permit a resurgence of the Emergency era and will guarantee that the nation is governed by laws as established in the Constitution.

During a press conference at the party headquarters, Trivedi criticized the detrimental 'ambitions and aspirations' of the INDIA bloc, alleging that it seeks to introduce Sharia laws covertly during the tenure of the Congress government.

"No matter what the INDIA alliance envisions, we will not allow those aspirations to materialize. The country will be governed by Babasaheb’s Constitution, not by Sharia," Trivedi emphasized.

This pointed critique from the BJP lawmaker came following RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav's remarks about discarding the Waqf Act if the Mahagathbandhan gains power in Bihar, which is preparing for elections later this year.

Speaking at a rally in Patna’s Gandhi Maidan, Yadav claimed that the NDA government was nearing its end and that once the RJD-Congress coalition assumes control in the state, the Waqf Act implemented by the Modi administration would be discarded.

Trivedi responded to Yadav's comments regarding minority appeasement, particularly toward Muslims, stating that the Gandhi Maidan witnessed a significant movement in the 1970s aimed at overthrowing Emergency-era autocrats. It is regrettable, he noted, that the RJD and Congress are plotting against the Constitution at this historically significant location.

“What Tejashwi and other leaders have said to attract minorities is a blatant affront and shows ignorance of the Constitution. It reveals their deeply ingrained desire to seize Constitutional powers for their political benefit,” he asserted.

He also demanded clear explanations from the opposition on why they resort to such tactics while showing complete disregard for the Constitution.

Trivedi cited examples of Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and Turkey, questioning if the INDIA bloc intends to implement laws even stricter than Sharia.

Additionally, he criticized the RJD and SP for branding themselves as proponents of socialism, stating that 'samajvaad' demands fair distribution of wealth and resources, yet they wish to maintain the ownership of 49 lakh acres of land with the Waqf Board.

“This contradicts the fundamental principles and tenets of socialism,” he concluded.

Point of View

We must maintain an unbiased stance while observing the unfolding political dynamics. The assertion that India will be governed by Babasaheb's Constitution rather than Sharia raises critical questions about the interpretation of secularism and the rights of minorities. This discourse is essential for the electorate to navigate their choices in the upcoming elections.
