Bommai Criticizes Congress for Eroding Police Morality in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Dec 25 (NationPress) Former Karnataka Chief Minister and BJP MP Basavaraj Bommai stated on Wednesday that the existing Congress-led state government has effectively eroded the moral integrity of the police department.
During a press conference, the former CM accused senior police officials of acting like constables.
He claimed that individuals who operate legally and ethically are being targeted.
"Law enforcement officials are expected to maintain the law, yet the Congress party seeks officers who demonstrate loyalty to them. This has resulted in a factional division within the police department based on political affiliations," he expressed.
"Imposing penalties on officers in uniform is demoralizing them. This situation must be rectified promptly, or it will result in significant issues in the future," he emphasized.
Former CM Bommai further accused the Congress party of transitioning from its pre-independence nationalist position to becoming anti-people and anti-nation in the present day.
In response to inquiries about Congress's centenary celebrations of the 1924 Belagavi Congress session chaired by Mahatma Gandhi, he stated that today’s Congress is anti-people and anti-nation.
When questioned about the incident where eggs were hurled at BJP MLA N. Munirathna Naidu in Bengaluru, the BJP MP remarked that the misgovernance of Congress has reached unprecedented levels.
"If they are so oblivious to the fact that one should not take the law into their own hands, what is the purpose of celebrating a centenary?" Bommai added.
Referring to an incident in Kalaburagi where a woman was electrocuted, the former CM stated: "This government has not only delivered an electric shock but numerous shocks to the populace. For example, expired medications from blacklisted companies were administered to pregnant women, which is appalling. This indicates that ordinary citizens are not safe under this government. Whether it concerns law and order, infrastructure, drinking water, health, or electricity, the people are vulnerable in every aspect."
Addressing Congress's opposition to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s comments about the Constitution's architect B.R. Ambedkar, Bommai remarked: "Congress has been revealed in Parliament concerning Ambedkar. To conceal this, they are orchestrating such dramas. The Congress government had suspended the police inspector at the Khanapur police station in Belagavi for allowing BJP leaders inside the police station during the arrest of BJP MLC C.T. Ravi."
BJP MLC Ravi was detained on accusations of making derogatory remarks against State Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar in the Legislative Council.
The BJP has claimed police overreach in this incident.
