New Delhi, April 14 (NationPress) In a startling development regarding the attack on a senior army officer and his son, the Delhi Police apprehended two suspects and confiscated the Mercedes vehicle involved in the incident on Tuesday.
The first suspect has been identified as Satender alias Sonu, aged 49, son of Banwari Lal, residing at 8/123, Mehram Nagar. He is associated with Chaudhary Aviation Pvt Ltd, which specializes in chartered and cargo flight services, along with aircraft sales and parts.
The second suspect, Sanjay Sharma, 56, son of Laxmi Narayan Sharma, lives at 8/142, Mehram Nagar, and operates Pandit Ji Dhaba.
Both individuals are currently under police scrutiny.
Earlier, Lt Governor T.S. Sandhu expressed grave concern regarding the incident that took place in Vasant Enclave, where the Brigadier was assaulted alongside his wife and their son, a 23-year-old graduate from IIT Delhi. He instructed the Delhi Police to ensure comprehensive security for the officer and his family.
"I am deeply troubled by the incident involving the assault on a serving Brigadier of the Indian Army, his wife, and his son, who is an IIT Delhi graduate," he stated.
He mentioned that he personally reached out to the Brigadier to discuss the situation and their health.
"I also communicated with the Police Commissioner and the DCP, instructing them to conduct a thorough and prompt investigation, ensuring immediate and appropriate actions against those responsible," added the L-G.
He reiterated the directive for the Delhi Police to guarantee full security for the officer and his family, emphasizing the commitment to uphold the safety of citizens and the rule of law.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged, and the police are addressing reported deficiencies in the initial response.
The incident occurred when the Brigadier stepped out for a walk with his son after dinner around 10 p.m. on Saturday. Outside their residence, they saw two individuals in a parked white Mercedes car drinking alcohol. Upon the Brigadier's objection, a dispute erupted, leading the men in the car to call upon their associates, who subsequently attacked the Brigadier and his son.
The officer's family has also accused the police of failing to act promptly and delaying the filing of the FIR until army officials intervened.
