Itanagar, Jan 10 (NationPress) The Border Roads Organisation (BRO), in partnership with various organizations and community volunteer groups, conducted a cleanliness drive at the Siang River Front in Pasighat, located in the East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, as stated by officials.
According to Defence Spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat, the BRO has consistently taken the lead in initiatives that connect with the civil administration and local populations in various capacities.
As part of this ongoing effort, the BRO's Project 'Brahmank' had launched an outreach program a few months ago, with various themes being identified for monthly activities, aimed at extending the outreach beyond just a select few agencies and institutes in Pasighat.
In line with this vision, BRO's Project 'Brahmank' collaborated with different organizations and volunteer groups in Pasighat to execute a Cleanliness Drive Program at the Siang River Front on Saturday.
Lieutenant Colonel Rawat mentioned that this initiative aligns with the goals of the 'Swachh Bharat Mission', emphasizing the importance of raising awareness among Border Roads personnel regarding the mission and ensuring a clean, hygienic, and plastic-free riverfront, in accordance with the national vision of a 'Clean India' as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi.
This event marked a remarkable start to the New Year 2026 for Project Brahmank, as officers, supervisors, and subordinates actively participated in this noble cause, offering support to local administration and communities.
The initiative received backing from numerous educational institutions, student unions, and youth organizations in Pasighat, all working towards the goal of restoring the Siang River Front to its former glory, as noted by the spokesman.
By promoting values of discipline, collective responsibility, and community involvement, the BRO reaffirms its dedication to contributing to nation-building through cleanliness and sustainable practices.
Beyond its primary infrastructure development responsibilities, Project 'Brahmank' regularly engages in various welfare initiatives for the local populace, including medical camps, cleanliness drives, skill development awareness, and motivational sessions.
Chief Engineer of Project 'Brahmank', S.C. Looniya, stated that they believe such collaborative efforts will not only enhance the relationship between the BRO and local communities but also create new opportunities for the youth across all Siang districts.
"We look forward to continued support and a productive partnership with civil organizations in this significant endeavor," he concluded.
