Hyderabad, Feb 19 (NationPress) The working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), K. T. Rama Rao, sent an open letter on Thursday to Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, urging the state government to allocate funds in the upcoming budget for the fulfillment of the Congress party's election promises.
KTR pointed out that despite the Congress being in power for nearly half its term, a staggering 95 percent of its commitments remain unfulfilled.
He expressed frustration over the absence of allocations in the last two budgets, stating that the people of Telangana are running out of patience.
In his letter, KTR highlighted that the Congress had made six guarantees but has neglected their implementation after taking office.
He called for substantial funding to be allocated for the six guarantees that focus on women, senior citizens, students, youth, and farmers.
Moreover, KTR insisted that the budget for 2026-27 should include allocations for Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Minorities, reflecting the promises made by the Congress.
He accused the Congress of backtracking on commitments to these communities and demanded that the government allocate funds in the current budget as well.
KTR warned that if funds are not allocated for the promises yet again, the BRS would intensify pressure on the government on behalf of the citizens.
He stated that if adequate funding is not provided for the implementation of these declarations, the BRS would expose the Congress party to the public.
Reminding the Chief Minister of the pledges made during the 2023 Assembly elections, KTR claimed that the Congress misled the populace with six guarantees and 420 promises.
He recalled that a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 was promised to every widow and senior citizen. Additionally, every woman was to receive Rs 2,500 monthly under the Mahalakshmi scheme, but two years later, not a single beneficiary has received any assistance.
KTR also reminded the Chief Minister of the promise of an annual financial aid of Rs 15,000 to farmers.
He emphasized that not only have promises to farmers and women been pending for two years, but every commitment made to the unemployed has yet to be addressed. On behalf of Telangana's youth, he called on the Congress government to allocate funds for the implementation of promises such as the job calendar and unemployment allowance, along with filling two lakh jobs.
