New Delhi, April 17 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) executed a search operation at the home of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Gujarat's election co-incharge, Durgesh Pathak, on Thursday. Following the incident, AAP leaders vehemently criticized the Union government, alleging the misuse of central agencies to intimidate opposition figures as the Gujarat Assembly elections of 2027 approach.
In a statement on the social media platform X, former minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj remarked: "The Central government has begun to threaten AAP leaders through the CBI."
Pathak was recently appointed as the co-incharge of AAP's Gujarat campaign for the upcoming elections.
Bharadwaj further commented, "During the last Gujarat Assembly elections, BJP was so intimidated by AAP's presence that they arrested our leader. Now, with Durgesh Pathak taking charge, the CBI has raided his home."
He added, "The BJP is rattled by Durgesh Pathak's new role, reflecting their weakened position in Gujarat."
The AAP believes the CBI's actions illustrate the BJP's anxiety over their expanding influence.
Former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi shared on X, "As soon as AAP began preparations for the Gujarat polls, the CBI targeted the party's election co-incharge."
She asserted that only AAP has the capability to seriously challenge the BJP in Gujarat, suggesting that the raid is indicative of the ruling party's "nervousness."
"Over the years, the BJP has failed to realize that we will not be intimidated by their threats," stated the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly.
AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia declared, "The CBI raid on Pathak's residence is no coincidence. It is a scheme arising from the BJP's fears. They know that only AAP can pose a real challenge to them in Gujarat, and this reality has unsettled them."
