Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Jan Aushadhi Kendra in the Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh has become a bustling hub as a significant number of patients and their families flock to the medical outlet to purchase affordable medicines that would otherwise be expensive.
Here, individuals have access to top-notch generic medications at prices that are 50 to 90 percent lower than those found in private pharmacies. Many patients have expressed that this has provided them with both mental and financial relief, attributing their improved circumstances to the initiatives of the Modi government.
Located within the Rajgarh District Hospital premises, the Jan Aushadhi Centre offers medications for critical conditions like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease at remarkably low prices. This has led to a surge of patients visiting the centre daily to benefit from substantial savings on their healthcare costs.
Dr. Rajneesh Sharma, the Civil Surgeon at the District Hospital, commended the initiative, stating that the Jan Aushadhi Centre serves as a vital alternative for those unable to afford high-priced medicines.
According to him, medications priced at around Rs 100 in the market are available for as little as Rs 10 to Rs 35 here.
Patients shared their personal experiences, such as Pawan Sen from Rozad Khurd, who mentioned that a syrup costing Rs 125 in the market is available at the Jan Aushadhi Center for just Rs 25, saving him Rs 100.
Kundan Gaur stated that a medication he used to buy for Rs 130 is now available for Rs 60, noting that the quality has also significantly improved.
Pharmacist Raghuveer Singh Gurjar reported that nearly all types of medicines are stocked at the centre, with demand continuously growing. He noted that an increasing number of people are visiting to purchase medicines.
A patient named Abdul remarked that the medications here are priced at nearly half the market rate, and he has been a loyal patron of this centre for an extended period.
The Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) was initiated by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India, in November 2008. The scheme aims to establish dedicated outlets known as Janaushadhi Kendras to supply generic medicines at reasonable prices.
