Bhopal/Chhindwara, March 28 (NationPress) In a heartfelt response to the devastating road accident in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district, the Congress party has declared an ex gratia payment of Rs 50,000 for the families mourning their lost loved ones. They have also called for a consistent compensation policy for all accident victims.

During a press briefing in Bhopal, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Umang Singhar, announced, "Each family of the deceased will receive financial assistance of Rs 50,000 from the Congress Party."

He extended his sympathies to the grieving families and hoped for the swift recovery of those injured, currently receiving treatment at the Chhindwara district hospital and AIIMS in Nagpur.

LoP Singhar criticized the state government for lacking a Uniform Compensation Policy for victims and their families. He noted, "While the government quickly offers compensation after incidents, there is no structured policy in place to ensure fairness."

He pointed out that the absence of a Single Window Clearance System complicates the claims process, forcing families to navigate multiple offices to submit necessary documentation, with their files often lost in bureaucratic delays.

"Many previous victims and their families have yet to receive full compensation because the government has not implemented a functional Single Window Clearance System," he added.

Meanwhile, Jitu Patwari, the head of the Madhya Pradesh Congress, visited Chhindwara to meet with families affected by the accident, offering his condolences.

Earlier, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had met with the bereaved families, expressing his support and announcing an increase in the ex gratia amount from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 8 lakh for each victim's family.

Yadav also visited the Chhindwara district hospital to check on the injured and instructed medical staff to provide comprehensive care. He reviewed the treatment progress and directed officials to facilitate referrals to Nagpur or other advanced medical facilities if necessary.

Tragically, at least 10 lives were lost when a bus collided with a goods vehicle and overturned on Thursday evening.

The response from political leaders emphasizes the need for a systematic approach to compensation for victims. The Congress Party's initiative highlights a gap in the current policy framework, urging for a more consistent and fair process to support affected families.
